Our Story

- It Started with a Simple Problem, and a Lot of Broken Chargers.

Ohm’s founders started in Santa Barbara, California, where they drove electric vehicles and quickly ran into the same frustrating cycle over and over again:

Find an available charger.

Arrive, only to discover it was broken.

See drivers fighting over the few working chargers.

Ask themselves: Why is this happening?

After countless failed charging attempts, they dug deeper. Here’s what they found:

The Industry Was Not Built For Reliability

The Lack of Data Prevents Fixes: Most commercial chargers were still under warranty—but repairs weren’t happening because electricians lacked the right data before arriving on-site. Without knowing what part was broken or what tools were needed, they couldn’t fix anything efficiently.

Chargers Can’t Diagnose Their Own Problems: Think about your iPhone—it can’t tell you if its own screen is cracked. EV chargers, despite pushing out 500 KW of power, also lack component-level diagnostic capabilities. When something breaks, there’s no way to pinpoint which of its 5,000 components failed.

Most Repairs Don’t Require an Electrician: Surprisingly, 90% of charger repairs don’t require an electrician’s license. That meant many fixes could be completed faster and at a lower cost—if only there was a trained workforce to handle them.

The Big Leap: Scaling with Smart Tech

As demand grew, they realized the only way to scale was by building a platform—one that could automate hiring, training, dispatching, and job execution for EV charging technicians.

The OhmField App became the game-changing innovation. It guides technicians through every second of their job, providing a step-by-step, modularized workflow for:

Cleaning

Inspections

Equipment Testing & Repairs

Test Charging

From Side Hustle to Scalable Solution

Looking to make extra cash in college, the founders tested a bold idea:

“What if we offer station owners a simple service—cleaning, inspecting, testing, and proactively repairing chargers? And for the bigger fixes, we escalate them directly to warranty providers or electricians via API?”

It worked, and other folks took notice.

What This Means For Site Hosts

When businesses—banks, universities, corporations—invested in EV charging stations, they thought they were simply providing a service. What they didn’t realize was that running these chargers would become a second full-time job.

With Ohm’s help, these site hosts no longer have to deal with angry driver complaints, troubleshooting broken chargers, or drowning in maintenance requests. Our corporate clients can uphold the highest professional image and alleviate the added burden on their operations team. By investing in Ohm, they get to keep their focus on what matters most.

For businesses charging customers for electricity, it meant:

  • More revenue from stations with 99% uptime

  • A maintenance solution that costs ~25% of industry standard

And Today? We’re Powering the Future of EV Charging

Today, we are building platform technologies to keep chargers running and improve electric vehicle (EV) charging reliability, profitability, and driver experience. Our field app & platform delivers proactive maintenance inspections, cleaning & repairs, data-driven increases in uptime, and service-level transparency for EV Charging station owners, all at ~10% of the cost of industry-standard O&M options.

Ohm transforms EV charger maintenance from a frustrating guessing game into a seamless, automated, proactive service-enabled platform.

When you buy chargers, you should never have to think about them again. Ohm makes that possible.
